TEASER
DAY ONE
The camera angles down, showing Doggett on the ground. He seems to be just waking up.

He feels someone pulling at his leg. He looks up to see that a Mexican man is stealing his shoe.

Doggett chases after the man, calling after him about his shoe. He catches up to him and grabs him, demanding his shoe back and trying to pull it from the man.

Suddenly the Mexican police pull up. Doggett tries to explain to the police that he was the one who was robbed. One of the men hit the thief.

One of the officers asks Doggett some questions part in Spanish and part in English. He asks Doggett for his passport. Doggett searches his jean pockets, but they are empty. The officer then asks him what his name is. A look of confusion falls over Doggett's face as he says, "I don't know."

ACT ONE
DAY TWO
In a jail cell full of Mexicans, Doggett removes his one shoe and starts banging it against the bars of the cell, yelling for a guard.

When no one comes, he puts his shoe back on and reties it.

A man behind him, Domingo, starts to laugh at him.

DOGGETT: Something funny? Soy haha?
DOMINGO: Nice touch, putting it back on again. Your one shoe.
DOGGETT: Yeah, well maybe I like to hop.

Doggett asks him why he didn't tell him earlier that he spoke English. Domingo tells him that he didn't think that he was funny before.

Doggett asks him where he is at and learns that they are in a small town in Mexico. Since Doggett doesn't know his name, Domingo sarcastically tells him that he will call him "One Shoe."

He asks Doggett what he does know, he tells him that he knows that he is getting out of there. Domingo asks if he has any money, because that's what it will take to bribe the police. Doggett tells him that he just needs to get to a phone to call the U.S. Embassy. Domingo tells him that he guesses they can get him home, but then asks him where home is. He says that maybe going home is not in his best interest-maybe he came there (as most Americans there do) to disappear.

DOGGETT: You don't know me.
DOMINGO: Hey, you don't know you.

Domingo walks away from him again.

Doggett walks over to look out of the cell.

The scene changes to black, and then a white dot appears that starts to expand into Doggett's vision/memory. In his dream he sees his son, Luke, waking him up. Beside him lies his wife.

Doggett wakes up. He rubs his head as if to try to get the memory back.

DAY EIGHT
Domingo is being let out of jail. He turns to Doggett and tells him that nobody is coming for him. He asks him to come with him-he can work for him.

Doggett reluctantly agrees and they leave.

Outside another man stands alongside Doggett and Domingo.

Doggett thanks them and starts to leave. Domingo stops him. He tells Doggett that he paid to get him out of jail-he owns him like he owns his car, and he has to do what he says.

The other man pulls a gun on Doggett.

Doggett moves and using his training grabs the gun from the man before he can do anything.

Domingo tells him that at least they no one thing about him-that he doesn't keep his word.

Doggett points the gun at them and starts to walk away. He then turns around, lets the clip fall out, and throws the gun so they will have to go get it.

Doggett sees the man who stole his shoe again. Doggett yells at him and asks him what else he has of him. He questions if he has his documents or wallet. He hands him the only thing he has-a silver charm of a skull.

Doggett approaches Domingo and his friend in the bar. He asks Domingo what the job is. He tells him that they are movers. They move Coyotes (illegal immigrants).

Domingo tells him that he'd invite him to have a drink, but his friend hates him. He tells him to get a room and not to try and leave town. Doggett tells him that he doesn't have any money, so he gives him some. He tells him that it is a month's salary.

Before he leaves, Doggett shows him the skull and asks him if it means anything to him. He tells him that it doesn't, but is angry that he has silver in his pocket and still asks for money.

Doggett leaves.

Domingo's friend tells him in Spanish that he doesn't think they should do what they are doing. Domingo tells him that Doggett just wants to remember, just like all of the rest.

Doggett stands shirtless looking in the mirror. There is a tattoo on his bicep that tells him that he is a marine. He then notices some cuts on each side of his forehead.

An old man sits smoking.

ACT TWO
DAY TWELVE
Scully and Skinner sit in Kersh's office. Kersh asks them what is going on. Scully shows him a picture that was sent from U.S. customs, of Doggett from a surveillance camera crossing into Mexico.

Kersh questions that they really know that it is Doggett. Skinner tells him that they scanned it to Reyes and she believes that it is him as well.

Skinner tells him that it is there first solid lead, and with his permission, he would like to expand the taskforce south of the border. Kersh tells them that he is not expanding the taskforce, but rather dispending it. He says that he sees no other choice. He has had forty agents scouring Texas for what appears to have been a wasted effort. He tells them that they will turn it over to the Mexican police because he is now in their jurisdiction.

Doggett tells them that whether they believe it or not, he wants to find him as badly as they do.

Skinner tells him that Reyes is still in San Antonio, and that she was raised in Mexico. She could offer the police some onsite help. Kersh tells him that she can help all she wants, but from this side of the border.

FBI FIELD OFFICE
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

Reyes sits and talks with a man named Malina and his lawyer. She accuses him of selling drugs.

She shows him a picture of a man named Hollis Rice and asks if he knows him. He tells her that he does business with him. He also knows that he is missing.

Reyes tells him that Doggett was investigating his disappearance two weeks ago, and that she's betting that he came to him with questions. He tells her that he doesn't remember anyone named Doggett.

The lawyer tells her that he doesn't know what she's implying. He says that Malina is an upstanding businessman and a pillar of the community.

Reyes says that only mob bosses use that phrase. She tells Malina what she thinks. She thinks that he is some kind of middleman in a smuggling operation. Rice laundered money for his cartel until he something went wrong-maybe he got greedy, maybe he talked too much. She tells him that his cartel made Rice disappear. She yells that her partner has disappeared too and she knows he is in Mexico. She will find him, no matter what it takes. She yells that his only personal hope for the future is that she finds him alive.

The lawyer butts in that unless his client is under arrest, the meeting is over.

Before Malina leaves, in Spanish Reyes tells him to think about his future as Mr. Pillar of the community.

The screen fades to black and a white dot appears again. It once again expands into Doggett's vision. It is the same, but it lasts a little longer. Luke tells his father to get up because he wants to show him something.

Doggett comes to in the middle of a room of people.

He walks over to the phone. He calls the Marine Corps Public Affairs Office. He tells the man that answers that he is a detective. He uses the name Ladatel that he sees on a sign for the phone. Doggett tells him that he is in Mexico and needs his help. He tells him that there is a marine there that has been hit by a taxicab and has been messed up. He doesn't remember his name and has no ID on him. He tells him that he wants to contact the man's family, because he is sure that there is someone somewhere who is worrying about him. The man asks for a social security number or a date of birth, but he doesn't have that. The only thing that he has to go by is a tattoo on his left shoulder that says, "Twenty-fourth MAU, We shall not forget." The man tells him that it is for the twenty-fourth marine amphibious unit. It refers to the Lebanon barracks bombing in 1983. He tells him that that at least narrows it down.

Doggett then describes himself to the man.

He tells Doggett that he'll look into it. He asks him where he can reach him. Before Doggett can answer, he sees the police enter the building. He drops the phone and leaves before they see him.

Doggett is working on the engine of a bus when Domingo comes in. He tells him that he knows who he is. He shows him a wanted poster of a man named Henry Brock, whose description sounds like him. He tells Doggett that they are looking for him for a double murder. Domingo tells him that he will keep him safe and away from the police.

Nestor, Domingo's friend, talks to the smoking man from before. Nestor tells him that Domingo has hired one of the "disappeared ones." He tells Nestor that the man is an FBI agent. Nestor asks why he has not been killed. The man tells him that he takes his orders from the cartel and they did not tell him to kill him. However, he tells Nestor that if the man were to get killed that night, it would not be of any concern to him.

FBI FIELD OFFICE
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

Scully arrives in Texas to meet with Reyes.

Reyes asks her how she escaped Kersh's cost-cutting regimen-he's shut them down. She tells Reyes that Kersh doesn't know that she is there, nor does he know that Skinner is headed to Mexico to consult with the federal police.

Scully tells her that she hopes it's perfect timing, and shows Reyes what she has just been handed. She reads over it and tells her that someone in Mexico is trying to track down a marine matching Doggett's description. Scully tells her that he was in an accident and is possibly suffering from amnesia.

Reyes sees the name of who placed the call-Ladatel. She recognizes the name and tells Scully that Ladatel is a Mexican telephone calling card. Scully tells her that they will trace the call. She then walks away.

Doggett is lying on his back under the bus fixing something. He stops and pulls out the skull charm and looks at it.

Suddenly someone comes in. It's Nestor. Doggett starts to tell him in Spanish that he's always working, but Nestor cuts him off, telling him that he speaks English, by the way. He then says, "See you in hell, FBI." Nestor then pulls out a gun and points it at Doggett.

Doggett thinks fast and knocks the end of the car back to the ground, which lands on Nestor's foot. Nestor screams in pain as Doggett gets out from under the car. Nestor takes his bloody, smashed foot out of his shoe, which is still stuck under the wheel.

Nestor walks around, pointing the gun, looking for Doggett. Doggett jumps out from behind Nestor.

The camera pans back to show the building from the outside. There is a small flash of light as the gun goes off.

ACT THREE
Domingo arrives to find Nestor dead.

Doggett points the gun at Domingo, accusing him of sending Nestor to kill him. Domingo tells him that he didn't. Doggett continues to yell, asking him who he is. At first he tells him that he doesn't know, but then he finally tells him that he is one of the "disappeared ones." He tells him that he was disappeared by the cartel, who owns the town. He tells him that people who are trouble wind up dead, and people who are more trouble dead than alive have this happen to them. Domingo points to his head.

DOGGETT: They took away my memory?! How, how do I get it back?!
DOMINGO: You don't! That's the point!

Doggett has another vision, the same as the last one, but it is at a faster speed.

Doggett comes to, clutching his head in pain. Domingo walks around him and takes the gun. He then hits Doggett in the head with it. He continues to kick and beat Doggett.

Reyes pushes a photo of Doggett at a police officer, wanting to know where he is. He wants to know who's asking. She pushes a two hundred bill towards him and tells him that she's just a concerned party.

He asks her for identification and she gives it to him. He questions that she is Mexican. She tells him she was born and raised Mexican, and then pushes another bill towards him. She tells him that Doggett ran out on her and her kids.

He tells her that come to think of it, their previous shift came upon an American. They reported that he had been beaten very badly. She asks him where he is now.

The officer leads her into a room where a man, who appears to be Doggett, is laying on a table, almost completely covered by a sheet.

Reyes walks over and pulls the sheet down, revealing that it is not Doggett. The officer tells her that he is sorry, that he isn't the man in the picture after all.

Reyes notices upon closer inspection that he has a cut on each side of his forehead. She asks the officer what they are, but he doesn't know.

DAY THIRTEEN
Domino talks to the smoking man. He tells him that Nestor is dead. He tells him that he knows that Nestor would not have tried to kill Doggett without his permission. The man asks him where Doggett is, and he tells him that he left him there unconscious.

The man asks him what he told him, and Domingo tells him that he said nothing. The man tells him that he finds that hard to believe, and that he'll have to see it with his own eyes.

The old man's eyes turn white. Ignoring Domingo's pleas, he places his thumbs on either side of Domingo's head, his fingernails digging into his scalp, in the same place that Doggett had cuts on his head.

Doggett gets up.

Reyes pulls up and goes in to get Doggett.

Not knowing her, Doggett grabs Reyes gun and pins her against the wall.

She tells him who she is and that she's his partner. She tells him to trust her, and that they have to leave. She will explain it to him in the car, but they are not safe there.

Doggett hears something. He looks outside and sees police cars pull up. The officers get out of their cars and get out their weapons.

Doggett and Reyes look at each other.

ACT FOUR
Doggett chains the door locked. The police yell for them to come out. Reyes translates what they say to Doggett.

Doggett tells Reyes that the cartel owns them and they are going to kill them. He tells her to take cover, so they move behind the bus.

Doggett starts talking to Reyes. He asks her how long they've been partners. She tells him that it hasn't been long, but that they have known each other for years.

The police tell them that they have one minute.

Doggett suddenly asks Reyes what his son's name is. He tells her that it's weird, but all that he can remember is that he has a son, but he can't remember his name. Reyes tells him that it is "Luke."

Doggett then asks how old Luke is. Reyes looks at him with sadness, not knowing what to say.

Doggett realizes that his son is dead and he gets upset and starts to cry. He guesses that he was murdered and asks her if that is true. She confirms it. He then says that Luke was kidnapped, and he was just a little boy.

Reyes tells him that the FBI got involved, and she was assigned to the case. That is when they met.

Reyes suddenly sees a smoke bomb roll across the floor. She tells Doggett that they are smoking them out. She tells him that she needs him to focus.

Doggett doesn't move, so she picks up the smoke bomb, carries it over to the other side of the room, and then throws it out the window.

Reyes leans against the side of the wall as bullets fly past her. She takes a couple shots at them, and then goes back to Doggett.

He won't answer her. She yells at him that if they are going to die there they are going to die on their feet, and she tells him to get up. He tells her to get in the bus.

They get in, and Doggett drives them backwards through the garage door. They drive right through, hitting some of the police cars. The men continue to shoot. Doggett tells Reyes to hold on, and he turns, but he loses control and the bus falls onto its side.

They look out the front window of the bus and see the officers coming towards them, pointing guns.

Suddenly some cars drive up and some feds with weapons come out, stopping the officers.

Skinner gets out of the one car and walks over towards the bus and then looks in on them.

Doggett looks up at Skinner.

Doggett drops the skull charm in front of the smoking man. Skinner and Reyes walk in behind him. Doggett accuses the man of working for the cartel, and tells him that he knows he makes their enemies disappear. The man denies this, saying that he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Doggett indicates the cuts on his head and tells him that he gave them to him when he took his memory. Doggett tells him that he has no idea how he does it, but everything that he is, his identity, was robbed from him by him. The man asks him who has been saying those things to him. He asks Doggett how he can prove it.

Doggett tells him that he came searching for a banker from Texas-Hollis Rice. He was out of his mind-didn't even know his name. Doggett tells him that he robbed him of that, and tried to do the same thing to him. Doggett tells him that he failed-he remembers everything.

Skinner tells Doggett to stop and leave him to them. Doggett turns to leave but the man stops him.

MEXICAN SMOKING MAN: Why would you want to remember? You can't tell me you are happier now, because you recall your life. I saw it all-so much pain. Why would you wanna struggle so long and hard to get that pain back?
DOGGETT: Because it's mine.

Doggett turns around and walks out. Skinner and Reyes follow.

The screen fades to black and a white dot appears again, which expands into his memory.

This time Doggett follows Luke outside where he shows his father that he can ride his bike. Doggett stands there smiling at his son.

Back in the present, Reyes approaches Doggett.

REYES: John, I'm so sorry about Luke. About you having to relive that.
DOGGETT: I'll take the bad, as long as I can remember the good.

The camera pans away and the screen fades to black.

Overall Rating : 8
*Shippy Rating: 0
*Note: OK a new note. Ratings will be completely different now because of the absence of Mulder, and therefore most likely of most of the shippiness. The ratings for this season are not equally comparable to that of previous seasons, so they will more or less be rated on their own scale, with me (trying to) disregard the fact that DD is not in it as a component in the rating. Shippiness still (if any) will ALWAYS be based on MULDER and SCULLY (unless I decide to do MR/JD or something later). The shippy scale is still based on the Redux II scale (1-10, as Redux II being a 10 [now with Triangle being an 11, All Things being an 11.5, and Millennium being a 12, and Requiem a 12.5 all above the scale])*
