TEASER
MAKHAFAH AL BUSAYYAH, IRAQ
OPERATION DESERT STORM
Josepho, the former military officer and leader
of the UFO cult, talks in voiceover as the scene shows he and his men at war.
He talks about how God came to Moses, Jesus, and Buddha, and then says that God came to him in a vision in the desert on February 26, 1991. He and his men had been ambushed-taken on by surprise. There were casualties.
Josepho tries to help another man who has been shot.
He says that they were holding their perimeter, and they might have held up, but on this day he had a terrible sense of foreboding. He saw the future of the brave men-that they were about to die.
Suddenly there is an explosion from a bomb. It turns their fort to rubble. The men all appear to be dead except for Josepho.
He says that death came to take his men, but not him. He was left as a witness with a vision. He saw angels-men.
Four soldiers run towards him. They jump over him and continue on, shooting at the enemy.
Then, there is another explosion. When the dust clears the four men walk out towards him again.
He says in voiceover:
JOSEPHO (V.O.): Behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, and a brightness was about him. And out of the midst came the likeness of four living creatures. And they had the likeness of a man.
The four soldiers pass him as he lies among the rubble, his eyes bleeding.
JOSEPHO (V.O.): I knew why my life had been spared-I was to deliver the message of these angels-of these sons of God. To deliver the message of the God who came before all other gods.
As he says this, the scene changes to present day Canada as he stands on the now fully exposed spacecraft, staring down at it.
ACT ONEHe tells them that at seven o'clock that evening, in a Washington, D.C. alley, the vehicle carrying Scully's son was forced to a stop by a female shooter who proceeded to kidnap the child at gunpoint.
Follmer changes the picture to one of the Lone Gunmen's crashed van.
He says that the three men who were asked by Scully to protect the child are working to ID the assailant.
The scene changes to show the Lone Gunmen looking at mug shots on a computer screen. They shake their heads at the women, until the assailant comes up. They are silent. The camera pans to show the FBI agent who is questioning them.
The scene changes back to show Follmer again. He continues on, saying that John Doggett was seriously injured by the same female shooter, while trying to halt her vehicle. Doggett remains in a coma under close watch at St. Mary's hospital. Comer also remains in critical condition at the same hospital.
Meanwhile Skinner and Scully are standing in the room listening to him.
Follmer says that Comer's and the female shooter's motives are still unknown.
Scully walks out of the room and Skinner follows her.
He asks her what she is doing-he told her that she didn't have to be there. She tells him that she wanted to see it for herself. Skinner tells her to go home, and she simply asks, "To what?" He tells her that she doesn't need to put herself through it. Every available agent is working to find her son.
She questions that Follmer is the leader of the charge. He tells her that Kersh asked him to be. He tells her that Follmer knows how to run a task force, which he thinks that she can see now. She tells him that what she sees is a man who withholds information from Kersh, and a man who twice failed to prevent an attack on son. She says that he sees a taskforce, but she sees a whitewash.
Skinner tells her that he knows that she is upset, but she can't possibly accuse Follmer or Kersh of having a part of it. She asks him how many people have to be taken out for him to open his eyes too it-her son, Doggett, Mulder.
He tells her that Kersh was protecting her by not telling her reports of Mulder's death, as did he and Follmer. She questions that he calls it protection. She calls it a systematic effort inside the FBI to eliminate them. He tells her that if she accuses anyone in the FBI she has to accuse him along with them.
Scully turns and starts to walk away.
SKINNER: Scully, where are you going?
SCULLY: To find my son.
Doggett lies in a hospital bed. Reyes is there with him, holding his hand.
Skinner walks in. Reyes tells him that the doctors say that the good news is that there is no swelling of the brain, but the bad news is that he may never wake up. She tells him that she wonders if Doggett can hear them.
Skinner tells her that there were soldiers in Vietnam-bodies turning inside out. He would hold their hands just like she is doing and tell them that it was going to be okay. She asks him if he thinks that it helped talking to them.
SKINNER: Well, I always thought it was like like praying. Even if they can't hear, maybe God can.
The phone rings. It's Scully. She tells Reyes that she wants to see her, but she would prefer if Skinner didn't know.
Reyes arrives at Scully's apartment. Scully tells her that she knows who took William. She shows Reyes the mug shot and tells her that the woman is a wanted felon and a member of the UFO cult that the FBI was investigating. She wants Reyes to find out anything that she can on her.
Reyes hears the Lone Gunmen in the kitchen. Scully tells her that they identified the killer, but have not told the FBI, because she asked them not to.
They are trying to find William. Byers hid a cell phone under the padding in William's car seat before he was taken. Langly hacked into the phone company and is using their mainframe to try to scan the map for a locator signal. If they find the phone, they find William. Reyes tells him that that is assuming that the kidnapper hasn't found the phone.
Byers looks at the phone they have connected. There is no signal. Byers tells them that they will keep trying.
Scully goes into the other room and gets her gun. Reyes tells her that it is madness. They failed her once with her child and will fail her again. She tells her then that she will find him herself. She tells Reyes that she has no choice-the FBI is all but telling her that they think that her son is already dead.
Byers interrupts, telling them that they got a signal. They are in Warfordsburg Pennsylvania, off the interstate.
Scully asks Reyes if she is coming with her or if she is going alone. She then walks out.
The scene changes to William sitting in his car seat. Beneath him the phone lights up and buzzes quietly.
The kidnapper gets out of the car and walks over to the phone booth.
The workers in Canada are trying to open the top of the UFO when the woman calls them. She tells Josepho that she has William and he is safe. Josepho tells her that he needs her to stay where she is and someone will come get her.
Suddenly the spacecraft starts moving and the top part rises around the two men inside as it closes. Everyone just stands and watches. The base is spinning. Suddenly they are sealed inside.
Josepho pounds the top trying to open it. He yells for the other to get some tools.
Scully and Reyes arrive and race to the woman's car. Both the woman and William are gone, but his car seat remains.
The camera pans to show and overhead view, and the screen fades.
ACT TWO
10:47 AM
Reyes arrives at the hospital to see Doggett again. He's not in his room so
she becomes worried and asks the nurse where he is. The nurse tells her that
he was taken to radiology to get a CAT scan.
Reyes goes into the chapel to pray for Doggett. While she is there Follmer comes in and tells her that he has known her a long time and a little traditional for her.
REYES: Maybe when you're lost you knock at the door with the porch light on.
Follmer hugs Reyes and tells her that he wants her to know that he is doing everything to find the woman who did it, even though there are people inside the FBI who are working against them.
Reyes pulls away.
Follmer tells her that it was foolish of them to go after her by themselves. They could have been there long before they were and captured the suspect, but she got away. Reyes just tells him that it's complicated. He tells her that he came in there to ask for her cooperation. Not sharing information creates an air of distrust, and he's less apt to share his information with her.
Reyes asks him what information he hasn't shared with her. He tells her that Comer has come around and wants to tell them something. She asks him what, and he just tells her that he needs her cooperation.
Follmer takes her into Comer's room. He is hooked up to a ventilator. Reyes asks Follmer how it's possible that Comer tried to tell him something. He tells her that he wrote it, and shows her the tablet he used. Reyes looks at it and tells him that she doesn't know what it means. Neither does Follmer, but he wants to know what it means.
Reyes shows the paper to Scully. It says, "jacket." Scully asks her where she got it. She guesses that Scully knows what it means. She guesses correctly that Robert Comer gave it to her, and she wants to know how she got it. Reyes tells her that she got it under the condition that she shares what she learns from her.
Scully tells her to take it back. Reyes asks again what it means. Scully tells her that if she doesn't tell her anything then she is good on her word-it means that she learned absolutely nothing from her.
Scully starts to leave and Reyes asks her where she is going. Scully tells her that she is going to the hospital, and Reyes tells her that it doesn't work that way. Scully tells her that it all started with Comer who crashed his motorcycle at the border but came to D.C. without a scratch, and then tried to kill her baby. She asks Reyes how he did that, and then says that it was with something that she found in his jacket that he left at her house after she put three bullets in it. Reyes guesses that it is the artifact-a piece of the ship.
Scully turns and leaves. Reyes follows her to the hospital.
They go into Comer's room unnoticed. Scully pulls out the artifact and holds it over Comer's body. The heart monitor starts to beep as the rhythm changes. He grabs the artifact but Scully won't let go. Scully tells Reyes to turn off the monitors or someone will know something is going on.
Comer finally lets go of the artifact. Scully takes the ventilator tube out of his mouth.
Scully tells Comer to tell her who sent him to kill her son, or she will take the pillow from under his head and make them the last breaths that he takes. He tells her that her son has to die. Scully grabs his throat, but Reyes stops her from killing him. Scully loosens her grip. Comer tells her that he's not what she thinks. The FBI sent him undercover on Josepho to get inside his cult, whose followers believe an alien race will rule the world. One day, God told Josepho to lead them one thousand miles north to find a ship buried in the ground. He tells Scully that she has a piece of that ship in her hand. Josepho believes that the ship is a temple, which houses the physical manifestation of God.
With tears in her eyes, Scully asks him if he is saying that God asked him to kill her child.
That's not what he meant. Josepho said that God spoke to him of a miracle child-a future savior, coveted by forces of good and evil. Josepho believes her son is that child. Scully asks him then why Josepho wants to kill him. Comer tells her that he doesn't-Josepho wants to protect him. Josepho believes that her son will follow in his father's paths and try to stop the alien's return, unless his father was to be killed-that is the prophecy.
Reyes questions that he came there to kill Scully's son to stop Josepho and his cult. She asks if he's saying that the prophecy, but acted alone.
Scully tells her that what he is saying is that Mulder is dead-that they killed him to fulfill the prophecy. Comer adds that her son must die too or all of mankind will perish from Earth.
Comer is having trouble breathing and asks Scully for the artifact. He tries to take it from her, but she pulls it away. He grabs onto it.
Someone opens the door and Scully lets go of the artifact. She covers his hands as the nurse and a few agents come in.
The agent asks what they are doing in there. The nurse tells him that they turned off the monitors and removed his intubation. The agent asks them again, and Scully tells him that Comer doesn't need support-he's breathing on his own. He just tells them to both step outside. Scully looks back at Comer and then walks out.
The man tells the other agents to get Follmer and Skinner.
After they leave he closes the door. Comer looks over to him.
Back in Canada, Josepho is trying to get the ship to open back up, but it's not working.
The kidnapper walks into the tent with William. Josepho walks over to them and asks if she was followed, and she tells him that she wasn't. He looks at William and says that he is safe now with them.
Suddenly the ship's base starts to spin again, making a loud rumbling sound. The woman looks down at William who is smiling.
The camera pans to show the now open ship. Inside are the burnt bodies of the two men.
ACT THREE
Skinner and Follmer come into Comer's room. The doctors are working on Comer.
Follmer asks where Scully and Reyes are.
Scully and Reyes are in the chapel. Scully asks what they are going to tell them about Comer and how he was healed. Reyes tells her just to tell them the truth, but Scully tells her that they're not on their side and will use the truth against them.
Reyes questions that Scully really believes what Comer said to her. Scully asks her how she can doubt him after everything that she's just witnessed. She says that it's exactly what she feared-that there is something wrong, and was from the very moment that he was conceived.
Scully's eyes start to fill with tears.
Reyes tells her that her child is a miracle. She doesn't doubt the things that she has witnessed are any less miraculous, but her son is not an abomination-a thing that should cease to exist. Reyes says that she tells her that there are scriptures on the craft from the world's great religions. She tells Scully to tell her of a religion that decrees the death of a child-not just her child, but any child. Those are the things that Comer was saying to them. She asks Scully how many religions warn of false prophets and men sent to deceive them. The only thing that she believes is that Scully's son may still be alive and they can find him and save him. And with the object in that room they can save Doggett too.
By this point there are tears running down Scully's face.
Skinner opens the door and warns them that they better get out of there, because Comer is dead.
Reyes is confused and runs into the hospital room to see him. She yells to the nurse that Comer was alive and she saw him. She checks his hands and says that someone was in there and asks where it went. She explains that Comer had a small piece of metal in his hands that revived him-it's why he could be taken off life support.
The nurse doesn't know what she's talking about. Reyes asks her who else came into the room and if she left the room. Reyes says that the nurse came in there and Comer was alive-he'd been healed. Comer was murdered, but it wasn't by them. She keeps asking who else was in there.
Reyes sees the man that kicked them out. She says that he was in there. He says that he came in and found her and Scully. She starts yelling asking if he was alone in there. He tells her that she went to get the doctors. Reyes tells them to search the man. No one does anything. Reyes tells Follmer that Scully saw it and to ask her. She asks them where Scully is and then goes running after her, trying to find her.
Scully is sitting beside Doggett holding his hand, with tears in her eyes. She tells him that she never meant for this-all that's been lost. She never meant to put him at risk.
She then tells him that Reyes is fighting for him-trying to find a way, and she's not going to let him go.
Suddenly Doggett wakes up and says Scully's name. He tells her that he heard someone talking. She tells him that she was the one talking to him. He tells her that it wasn't her that he heard.
DOGGETT: They're going to come to you, but you can't trust them. Do you understand that?
Reyes comes in.
Scully's phone rings. Reyes walks over to Doggett while Scully answers her cell phone.
Doggett smiles up at Reyes.
Josepho is who called Scully. He tells her to listen very carefully. He then tells her if she wants to see her son, to come alone and follow his instructions to the letter.
ACT FOUR
OUTSIDE CALGARY, CANADA
2:52 AM
Scully meets Josepho in a diner. He tells her that he only wants to protect
the boy from those who would harm him-he's a very special boy. Scully tells
him that he's come to take him back.
Josepho quotes the Bible again, this time to Scully, saying the same thing as in the teaser. Scully knows that it is from "Ephesians." He tells her that the Bible is describing giants who walk the earth, and says that only the faithful would believe it, and those who have seen the Super Soldiers-the true Sons of God. Scully just tells him that she wants to see her son. He tells her that she struggles to believe. He says that it's so incredible, but her son will lead this alien race-he was put there to lead. He tells her that he will take her to her son, after she brings him something that he needs-confirmation that Mulder is dead. Scully asks if he killed Mulder. He tells her that he didn't, but he believed he was dead, but now he has reason to doubt that. He tells her that if Mulder's alive, he's the one thing preventing William's true destiny. Scully says that he told her that she could see her son, and he lied. He tells her that if she wants to see him, she will bring him the head of Fox Mulder.
Josepho gets up and leaves.
Scully takes out her cell phone and tells Reyes to get ready, who has been waiting nearby with the Lone Gunmen. Frohike opens the door of the van and tells Reyes that he's done wiring Josepho's car.
Scully rushes outside and gets in the car with Reyes, and they follow Josepho. The Lone Gunmen give them directions as the track his car. Scully questions that they might lose him in the hills.
Frohike asks Langly how they're doing. He tells Frohike that it will track the guy even if he travels underwater to Brazil. Then, suddenly, they lose the signal. Langly starts pounding the laptop.
Scully and Reyes come to a turn and Frohike tells them to take it, trying not to let them know that they lost the signal, but Reyes realizes it.
LANGLY (hitting the laptop): Piece of crap!
FROHIKE: Hey, louder why don't you?
Byers tells them to tell them that they're working on it. Frohike gives him the phone and tells him to be the messenger.
Meanwhile, the spacecraft is lit and spinning again. William is crying.
Josepho comes in and asks what happened. The woman kidnapper tells him that the baby started crying and it just came to life.
All of the people stand on the edge of the craft, looking down inside.
Scully and Reyes get out of the car. Reyes tells the Lone Gunmen that they lost them and have run out of road.
Scully starts calling for William and sees the white tent in the distance. She runs towards it.
Josepho gets into the spacecraft and kneels, looking at the lights. Suddenly the ship shakes and a bright light blasts out at him. The ship lights up everywhere as the people still stand on the ship watching. It shakes and rumbles.
Scully and Reyes race towards the tent as it lights up in the distance.
Suddenly they see and explosion and the craft lifts into the air, and then flies off. (And yes, Scully DID see it this time and can't possibly deny it!:)
Scully sees the tent on fire as it falls and runs towards it, fearing the worst.
When they arrive at the tent they find burnt, dead bodies everywhere. Reyes rushes over to Scully and grabs her hand before she can continue to look.
Suddenly they hear something-a baby's cry. Scully calls out for William and she finds him on the ground wrapped in a blanket, crying, but perfectly fine. She picks him up and cries, hugging him.
The camera pans up and the scene changes to the chapel in the hospital.
Doggett is sitting there when Reyes walks in and sits down beside him. She tells him that she came to give him a ride home. She tells him that she came in here and prayed for him. He tells her that he knows that she did.
DOGGETT: This voice in my head, it was
it
was talking to me. Telling me to get up. Telling me to warn Scully about this
man. I mean
was it you talking to me?
REYES: I only prayed for your life.
Confused, Doggett turns his attention back to the cross in front of them.
FBI HEADQUARTERS
WASHINGTON, D.C.
Kersh enters his office, carrying a file. Follmer stops him. He tells him that
it's about the report that he has-about Special Agent Comer's death. He tells
Kersh that, as he knows, Skinner refused to sign it, because he believes that
Comer was murdered. Kersh tells him that he (Follmer) did sign it, finding nothing
to support that allegation.
FOLLMER: Well, that's just it sir. I did find
something. The monitor's in Agent Comer's room, they recorded his condition
moment by moment, showing that his vital signs did improve just before the equipment
was unplugged. They did, in fact, return back to normal.
KERSH: And you have an explanation for that, yes?
FOLLMER: No, sir, I don't.
KERSH: And you want what?
FOLLMER (swallowing): I just want to take my name
off it.
KERSH: Maybe if you weren't so busy backpedaling,
Mr. Follmer, you might get me an explanation.
Kersh excuses himself and walks back into his office and closes the door.
Kersh tells whoever is in the room that he's sure that he heard all of that.
Kersh walks over to the man, hands him the file, and sarcastically congratulates him, telling him that it appears now that everything is dead except the case.
The camera pans to show the bureau file number: X289011. The man, now revealed to be the man that killed Comer, says that he's sure that he can take care of that.
The camera pans to show the back of his neck-which has a big lump on it, showing that he is another alien replicant.

Overall Rating : 9.5
*Shippy Rating: 4.5
*Note: OK a new note. Ratings will be completely
different now because of the absence of Mulder, and therefore most likely of
most of the shippiness. The ratings for this season are not equally comparable
to that of previous seasons, so they will more or less be rated on their own
scale, with me (trying to) disregard the fact that DD is not in it as a component
in the rating. Shippiness still (if any) will ALWAYS
be based on MULDER and SCULLY
(unless I decide to do MR/JD or something later).
The shippy scale is still based on the Redux II scale (1-10, as Redux II being
a 10 [now with Triangle being an 11, All Things being an 11.5, and Millennium
being a 12, and Requiem a 12.5 all above the scale])*
