TEASER
Inside lobby of an apartment building, a man walks over to a free newsstand and picks up a copy of “The DC Weekly.”

Reyes is a few feet away, kneeling on the ground, fixing a bike.

Doggett and Follmer are watching what is going on, on monitors from inside a van parked outside. They are in communication with her via an earpiece.

Doggett is worried about Reyes being in there. The man, Irwin Lukesh, is a killer that cuts out women’s tongues. Follmer wants them to at least wait to see if he
opens the mailbox—number 4-D

Lukesh has looked back in the direction of the cameras, so he might know that they are there.

He walks over to the box with his key, but changes his mind. He changes directions and moves out of site and to a stairwell.

Reyes draws her gun and follows him.

Doggett tells her not to go, but Follmer tells her just to not let herself be seen.

Reyes looks for him until he comes up from behind her and grabs her. He takes her earpiece out so she can’t scream, and holds a blade to her throat.

Inside the van they realize that they no longer can communicate with her.

They rush in the building to hear Reyes scream. They find her. Her throat has been sliced, and she is holding it with her hand, trying to stop the bleeding.

Doggett runs off to catch the killer and Follmer stays with Reyes. Follmer notices something and yells to Doggett that Lukesh has Reyes’s gun.

Doggett follows Lukesh out into the alley. He turns around and his hands are covered in blood. Doggett holds him at gunpoint as backup pulls up behind him.

He turns his head for a second to yell to them where Lukesh is. When he turns back, Lukesh has disappeared.

Suddenly Lukesh, with Reyes’s gun, is behind Doggett and he realizes it. He turns and shoots, and a gunshot is heard.

The TAGLINE has been flipped so THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE is backwards

ACT ONE
Reyes has just moved into her new apartment and is unpacking. She looks into her mirror and we can see that her throat is uncut.

Doggett knocks and comes in. They seem happy to see each other. He asks her if she has anything really heavy like a dresser or fridge that she needs him to
move. She tells him that he just missed the movers. He jokingly just says, “You don’t say.”

He tells her that he has a housewarming gift for her.

He shows her the box. She thinks that they are hotdogs, but they are actually Polish sausage. He takes one and tells her that they come from a little stand on M
Street and are the best in the city.

Reyes leans over and with her finger wipes the side of Doggett’s mouth, like Mulder did to Scully in “Red Museum.”

She tells him that she will get them some plates. He is appalled and asks who uses plates with Polish sausage.

Reyes phone rings. She answers it. It’s Skinner. He tells her that Doggett has been shot and is in the hospital. Reyes is very confused. She turns around and
Doggett is gone.

At the hospital, Follmer asks Reyes if she knows why Doggett was in the alley that morning. Reyes is confused. Scully tells her that if he pulls through, he will likely
be paralyzed for life. Reyes tells them that it isn’t Doggett--she was with him.

They walk into Doggett’s room. It looks bad—Doggett has a neck brace on and is hooked up to monitors and such. Reyes is confused and upset.

She walks over to Doggett and holds his hand. A tear runs down her face.

FBI BALLISTICS LAB
WASHINGTON, D.C.

Skinner talks with some men from Ballistics. They tell him that the bullet came from an FBI issue gun, but not from Doggett’s.

Follmer is angry because Skinner had known about the bullet for a while before telling him. He tells him that he wants to keep the communication open.

He tells Skinner to have the slug run through the database. Skinner repeats that it’s not from Doggett’s gun. Follmer still wants it run. Skinner asks if he thinks
someone at the bureau did it. He tells him just to run it.

Reyes is talking to Scully. She asks her how it is possible that Doggett was with her in her apartment. Scully tells her how she saw her father right before he passed
away. The moment it happened he came to her, which she would like to believe was to say goodbye. She tells Scully that is wonderful, but that what happened to
her is something different.

Skinner calls Scully on her cell phone. He tells her to bring Reyes to the sixth district police station.

METRO POLICE, SIXTH DISTRICT
WASHINGTON, D.C.

Follmer takes Reyes into an interrogation room with a two-way mirror.

Follmer asks her about he being with Doggett. He doesn’t believe her. He tells her that she knows how he feels and he is on her side but she has to give him more
than that.

From the other side of the two-way mirror, Scully asks Skinner what he is doing and goes to stop him, but Skinner stops her.

Reyes asks Follmer why he is asking her questions. He tells her that the bullet that hit Doggett came from her gun, and they have an eyewitness who says that she
shot him.

Follmer starts to tell her that he has to take her ID from her. She ignores him and starts yelling at the mirror, asking who’s behind it.

Lukesh is behind the glass with Skinner and Scully now. The guard thanks him. He tells them that he will do anything he can to help.

ACT TWO
Back in the hospital room, Reyes is with Doggett. Scully and Skinner come in and she motions to the guard and says, “Smart touch.” She asks if he is posted there
to guard Doggett because they think she wants to finish the job. She asks Skinner if he believes that she shot Doggett. He tells her that he knows that she didn’t, but
that doesn’t matter. She may still be arrested.

She asks him why she hasn’t been arrested yet. Scully tells her that there are some potential holes in Follmer’s case—things that don’t add up. Skinner tells her that
she was at home when he called her—fourteen miles from the crime scene. Scully tells her that they had her gun checked and it had not been fired; however, the
bullets are still an exact match for her gun.

Suddenly Skinner notices Doggett tapping his finger. Reyes is hopeful. Scully tells them that it could be just a muscle spasm, which is common with injuries of the
spine. Skinner says that she’s wrong—it’s Morse code.

Skinner gets out a tablet and copies down what he is trying to tell them. Skinner shows them the paper. It says “Lukesh.”

In the lobby, Lukesh opens his mailbox.

Lukesh enters his apartment and his mother starts calling for him. He tells her that he was only gone two hours and six minutes—he was back at noon like he
promised.

He opens a drawer and the camera pans to show a gun—that looks like it’s FBI issue.

He is getting her something to drink. She asks him if he will make her a sandwich too so she can watch her television show why she eats. He says that he will make
her a meat sandwich. He opens the refrigerator and pulls out a human tongue.

Skinner is with Reyes, showing her the file even though he isn’t supposed to.

Reyes reads about Lukesh. He was a patient at a state mental hospital in 1995 but was released only four months later. His mother’s apartment is also adjacent to
where the shooting took place.

Reyes asks if maybe Doggett was investigating Lukesh.

Follmer calls Skinner, knowing that he is most likely with Reyes, and tells him to bring her to the hospital because Doggett wants to talk to her.

Reyes, Scully, and Skinner go to enter Doggett’s room, but Follmer stops them. He tells Scully and Skinner that Doggett didn’t mention the two of them.

Reyes walks into Doggett’s room, happy that he is conscious.

They have a button that he can press that is hooked up to a computer screen so he can type.

The word “ALIVE” comes onto the screen. She tells him that of course he’s alive and she’s glad. He then writes, “NO YOU HOW OK?” She tells him that she is
fine and asks him why she wouldn’t be. He then types: “YOUR THROAT CUT . LUKESH KILLED YOU . TRIED KILL ME.”

Lukesh is lying next to his mother in bed. He quietly gets up and leaves the room.

His mother opens her eyes.

Lukesh is in the alley with his blade. He walks until he disappears into what must be another dimension.

ACT THREE
A doctor prods Doggett, checking for any feeling in his body. Doggett doesn’t respond, so the doctor tells him that he will try again tomorrow. Then he leaves.

DOGGETT (on screen): 1ST TIME EVER HOPED FOR A LITTLE PRICK
REYES (smiling): You kiss your mother with that mouth?

Doggett asks, “HOWS CASE?” Reyes tells him at first that it’s coming along, and then tells him the truth—that the case is going nowhere.

She says, that he says that she was on a stakeout with him, and she says that he was at her apartment with her, bringing her Polish sausage. She thinks of something.

Reyes asks him if he knows a stand on M Street that makes hot dogs. Doggett replies, “POLISH SAUSAGE BEST IN CITY.”

She asks him what if they both are right. What if they were both were in both places at the exact same time. She asks him what it would take for that to be true.
He says, “WE BOTH HAVE TWINS WHICH WE DONT.” She tells him that maybe they do—maybe everyone does. She guesses that he’s heard the idea of a
parallel universe—one that’s identical, or nearly identical, to the one they are in. What if they all have doubles? He says, “TOO MUCH STAR TREK.”

She tells him that he said himself that Lukesh was known for impossible escapes. He said that when he was in the alley with Lukesh, he looked away for only and
instant, and suddenly Lukesh was gone.

There is a flashback of the teaser.

She continues, that somehow Lukesh got behind him and shot him with her gun—the gun that never left her possession the entire afternoon. Maybe Lukesh can pass
freely from one world to the other somehow, like opening a door. Maybe he followed him through that door somehow without even knowing it.

In the flashback, Doggett steps through the “liquid wall” into the other dimension and disappears.

REYES: Maybe when you followed Lukesh into this world, my, my Doggett got forced out.
DOGGETT (on screen): WOW
REYES: My Doggett would have called that crazy too.

She tells him to give her another theory then.

Skinner and Follmer are interrogating Lukesh again. They tell him that Doggett says that he shot him, and that he is a murderer who enjoys killing women and cutting
out their tongues. Lukesh just basically says that Doggett is nuts.

Follmer asks him if he will let them take a GSR test—it tells whether or not someone recently fired a gun. He tells him that he’ll have to talk to a lawyer about that.

Lukesh says that his heart goes out to Doggett, but their agent is confused, and that Reyes is responsible. Skinner asks him if he has anyone to collaborate that, but
he says that he doesn’t. Skinner asks about his mother. Lukesh tells them that she was sleeping then and wouldn’t have heard anything. She is in poor health and
gets confused. He tells them that he won’t have them harassing his mother just because they are afraid that one of their people did it. He tells them that if they aren’t
arresting him that he is leaving. As he walks out, Skinner says, “Say hi to Mama.”

Reyes sees him walking out. He walks over and confirms that she’s Agent Reyes, and then says:

LUKESH: What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?

She asks him how he does it. She tells him that she knows that he knows what she is talking about—this world and the world where he lives out his sick fantasies.
She asks him when it started—if it was in 1995 during his breakdown, and that he had anger that he needed to release—not there, but in another would just like it.

He just leans in close to her and says that he enjoyed her. She bled just like meat.

Skinner sees them talking and asks Reyes if she’s all right.

Lukesh comes in his apartment and tells his mother that he’s home. He then makes her her Clamato drink. When he opens the drawer, he sees that the gun is gone.
He gets upset and goes into the bedroom asking what she did.

She has the gun sitting in front of her. She says that he doesn’t tell her thinks and that she knows he’s been sneaking out. She asks him why the gun is in her house.
He doesn’t answer her. She tells him that if he won’t tell her then he can tell the FBI—they left three messages saying that they want to talk to her.

Lukesh walks over to the phone and deletes the messages. She questions that he’s not even going to listen to them. He asks her if she is planning on talking to
them. She tells him that she has to, because they’re the FBI.

Tears start running down Lukesh’s face when he realizes in his own sick mind what he has to do. He pulls out his straight razor.

She asks him what he is doing. She is shocked. He leans over her and slits her throat as she screams.

ACT FOUR
At the hospital, Reyes is shaving Doggett’s face.

DOGGETT (on screen): MISSED A SPOT
REYES: Did not. Anyway, that’s what you get for hiring cheap help.

Doggett types again: “BEEN THINKING.” She asks him what he’s been thinking about and he says, “SOUNDS CRAZY BUT THINK YOURE RIGHT.” Off
her look he then adds, “2 DOGGETTS CANT BE IN 1 WORLD . U FIX.” She asks him how she can fix it, and he says, “PULL THE PLUG.” He adds, “I GO
YOUR DOGGETT COMES BACK.”
She tells him that that is a bad joke.

He tells her, “CMON YOUR THEORY SOUND.” She tells him that she doesn’t think he believes it and that it has anything to do with her theory. He asks her,
“DO YOU BELIEVE?” She shakes her head in affirmation as tears start to fall. He then says, “PROVE IT.” She tells him:

REYES: I would do anything for you. Anything but that.

Reyes phone rings. It’s Skinner. He tells her that Lukesh’s mother is dead—cut with a straight razor, the same way Doggett described how he cut her. He tells her
that from what he’s heard, Lukesh will be hard to find. She tells him that he will find them.

67 BENNETT AVE.
WASHINGTON, D.C.

Reyes enters her apartment. She walks around nervous. She hears something and goes to see what it is. A few things just fell. She walks back out, and assures
Scully, Skinner, and Follmer, who are watching, that she is all right. She tells them that she will check around once more.

When she walks into the other room, Lukesh steps out of the shadows and grabs her. He pulls her wire off so they can’t hear her scream. He puts the blade to her
neck.

They realize that Reyes isn’t saying anything and they call to her. She doesn’t answer. Scully tells them that he’s there and must have her. Doggett tells her that
that’s impossible. She asks him if he wants to stick around to find out.

Lukesh tells Reyes that she ruined everything, and made him do it (kill his mother). He tells her that this time he gets to bleed her slow.

Scully, Skinner, and Follmer come rushing it. Follmer shoots Lukesh in the head and he falls.

Reyes is still in shock. Follmer tells her repeatedly that it is okay, trying to sooth her.

Reyes enters Doggett’s hospital room and locks the door. She walks over to Doggett and holds his hand. He knows what she is about to do.

Reyes reaches over and turns the alarm off on the ventilator. She then turns it off.

Doggett looks at her for a few moments as she starts to cry. When he is dead she lets go of his hand.

Reyes closes her eyes at her tears.

Reyes opens her eyes and is confused. She looks down at herself. She then turns around to see Doggett standing there. He is telling her to forget about the plates.

She is on the verge of tears. He asks her what’s wrong. She just hugs him and tells him, “I’m good.”

Overall Rating : 9
*Shippy Rating: 0
*JD/MR Shippy Rating (yes I've added it now:): 8
*Note: OK a new note. Ratings will be completely different now because of the absence of Mulder, and therefore most likely of most of the shippiness. The ratings for this season are not equally comparable to that of previous seasons, so they will more or less be rated on their own scale, with me (trying to) disregard the fact that DD is not in it as a component in the rating. Shippiness still (if any) will ALWAYS be based on MULDER and SCULLY (unless I decide to do MR/JD or something later). The shippy scale is still based on the Redux II scale (1-10, as Redux II being a 10 [now with Triangle being an 11, All Things being an 11.5, and Millennium being a 12, and Requiem a 12.5 all above the scale])*
