I also went to the "Lucky Boy" diner, where I took pictures of everything. You can view them here.

TEASER

A man drives up to the "Lucky Boy" drive-thru. He says his order into the speaker, but the worker (Rob Roberts) tells him that they are closed. The man keeps yelling, so finally, Rob tells him to pull up. When the man pulls up, he hears weird slurping noises coming from within, so he tries to see into the window.

Suddenly, a monster with shark teeth jumps at him into his car attacking him.

ACT ONE

THREE DAYS LATER
Rob RobertsRob Roberts gets out of his car, dressed for work at "Lucky Boy." He gives himself a pep talk, "You are your own man, and you control everything you do."

Rob goes into the diner and works behind the counter.

Mulder and Scully enter "Lucky Boy" to investigate the murder.

ROB: Welcome to "Lucky Boy." May I take your order?
MULDER: Yeah. We'll have it our way.
MULDER and SCULLY hold up their FBI badges

Mulder and Scully tell Rob that they want to talk to the manager. Mr. Rice steps up and they ask him to gather all of his employees. Mulder explains to them about the murder. They found an I.D. badge from "Lucky Boy" at the crime scene. Mr. Rice, tells them that all of the employees have them, and use them on Friday nights. Mulder asks to see them. Everyone has one (even Rob) except for Derwood Spinks. He tells them that he left it at home because he only needs it on Friday, and that he didn't leave it on "some dead guy." Scully tells him that they never said that the victim was male. Mulder asks if everyone will go outside so they can investigate.

Once everyone is gone, Mulder asks:

MULDER: Hey Scully. Check it out.
Outside the window, ROB is sneaking past.
MULDER: You know how they say you never wanna see the kitchen of any of your favorite restaurants?
SCULLY: Somehow, I don't think "Lucky Boy" would make that list.
MULDER: My point being, that this is a hell of a lot cleaner than all the others. Don't you think?
SCULLY: I guess. So, what are you saying, Mulder. This place has been scrubbed from top to bottom to cover up evidence?
Meanwhile ROB is outside the drive thru window and reaches in and flips on the intercom. He then walks over to the speaker to listen.
MULDER: Maybe. Maybe I'm thinking this was the crime scene.
SCULLY: You're saying Mr. Pankow had his brain very neatly removed from his skull, right here, in this kitchen?
MULDER: It had to happen somewhere.
SCULLY: But next to the shake machine, Mulder? I think that we should be checking out employee lockers, not entertaining the idea that ad hoc surgery was performed here.
MULDER: I wouldn't exactly call it 'surgery.' (Off her look) What if this man's brain was eaten? It's not sociologically unheard of. There are certain tribes in New Guinea that consider human brains a delicacy.
SCULLY: Yeah, but Mulder, we're in Orange County.
MULDER: And what's your point? <beat> It's just that nothing about the way the body was dumped suggests a fetishistic killing. The brain wasn't removed intact. What if this man's brain was eaten right out of his skull?
SCULLY: Through an inch-and-a-half opening that looks like it was cut with a hole saw?
MULDER: Uh, maybe it was cut, maybe it was punched. What looked like tool marks to you, looked to me like something more organic. I think it was made by a…a tongue, or a…proboscis.
SCULLY: The proboscis of what?
They look under counters and cabinets until MULDER finds something
MULDER: Hel-llo, look at this.
SCULLY leans in behind him to see a few flecks of red stand out against the stainless steel.
MULDER: That look like blood to you?
SCULLY: Yes. It looks like it.
MULDER: What is that? Next to it, is that uh…Oh my God, is that brain? Is that brain matter, there?
SCULLY: No, I'd say that's ground beef.
MULDER: Ground beef?
SCULLY: Yeah.

At Rob's house, Rob pulls his "Lucky Boy" uniform out of his bathtub, which is filled with blood. The shirt is still pink. He takes it and puts it in a garbage bag, ready to take it out, when there's a knock on the door. It's Mulder.

Mulder interrogates Rob some more, doing it sort of friendly so Rob would think he's just asking him normal questions about the crime scene. Rob had volunteered to stay late on Friday night, the night of the murder.

Meanwhile, the garbage bag with the clothes that Rob had set down is starting to leak blood.

Mulder asks what Rob did with the meat that was left. He tells him that he threw it into the dumpster. Mulder thinks that was what was logical to do, but that it wasn't in the dumpster, which is only emptied on Thursday. Mulder tells him though that it's not relevant to the murder case anyway.

Rob looks at the bag again, as it continues to leak.

Mulder all of a sudden says "blood" and Rob tenses. Mulder points to Rob's lip which is bleeding. Rob says that he bit it.

Outside, the garbage truck comes. He made it in time.

LookalikeRob looks at his fingers that are covered with blood from the bag. He thinks no one is looking, so he sucks it off of his fingers.

Rob turns to see who he thinks is Mulder, sitting in a maroon car. Upon closer inspection, he sees that it is not. (It is Steve Kiziak, David Duchovny's photo double.)

Back inside, Rob is looking out the blinds at [Steve], when his answering machine picks up a call. It's from Dr. Mindy Rineheart, who is a licensed mental health conselor with the "Lucky Boy" corporation. She has been told to call all of the employees, to have them come to a mandatory session.

Meanwhile, Rob's teeth are bleeding so he goes to the bathroom sink and looks into the mirror. He pulls a row of false teeth out, and a few of [his real] teeth fall into the sink. They are shaped like sharks' teeth. Rob's stomach starts to growl loudly.

Out in the living room, Rob puts in a motivational tape that he sits down to watch, to try to stop himself from eating. While he's there, he also eats some diet gum. It's obvious that he doesn't want to kill anyone, but that he has no choice.

Rob looks outside and the maroon car is still there. He sits back down and repeats a motivational phrase from the video, the same as in the teaser.

Steve is in his car smoking when Rob comes up to him. He doesn't want to see Rob. "What?!" He asks as Rob opens his mouth to reveal his shark-like teeth. He attacks Steve.

ACT TWO

Rob is sleeping on his couch when Spinks puts his foot on his chest. He had broken in by picking the lock.

Spinks blackmails Robert because he found Rob's diet pills at the diner, with a fingerprint of blood on them. Spinks wants Rob's VCR and some other things. He tells Robert that he better not leave town. Spinks is an ex-con, and he is being blamed for the murder of Pankow.

Suddenly, the land lady of the apartment, Sylvia, knocks and enters. She tells Robert that there was a man sitting out in a maroon car that had been there for a long time. She asks if he saw him, but he tells her he didn't. She says that the man is gone now, but to keep watching in case he comes back.

Spinks leaves.

Rob is getting ready to unlock his car door when Mulder comes up behind him.

MULDER: Hey, just the man I wanted to see! How are you this morning, Rob?
ROB: Fine.
MULDER: I'm glad I caught you. Oh, hey, I was just, I was just driving to your apartment and I saw Derwood Spinks, not a block from here. He wasn't coming from your place by any chance, was he?
ROB: No, no, I, I haven't seen him.
MULDER: Good. I'd stay away from him. He's our prime suspect in the Pankow murder.
ROB: You, you think he did it?
MULDER: Me? No, no, no. I, I should say that's the opinion of the Costa Mesa police, and my partner.
ROB: So, so he's he's not your guy then.
MULDER: No, no. I think we're looking for somebody who has a compulsion to kill. Truly can't help himself. Oh, quick question. The uh...the meat, that you threw in the dumpster…
ROB: What about it?
MULDER: Uh, the dumpster had a padlock?
ROB: Yeah.
MULDER: Who would have the key?
ROB: We do and the…uh...trucking company does. Hey, wait. What's your point?
MULDER: I'm just tying up some loose ends.

Rob goes to see Dr. Rineheart. She asks him basic questions, such as, if he's been able to sleep, etc. He tries to like he is all right. He stomach growls, and he looks at the doctor's head, wanting her brain.

Suddenly, the phone rings. Mindy answers it. It's Mulder. She tells him that she can't help him, [whatever he wants her to do] because it would violate patient confidentiality.

Robert jumps up to leave, because he doesn't want to hurt her. He tells her that he needs to go to work. She tells him that she needs to finish the session another time, but he just leaves.

Brain Food
At work, Rob is looking at the hamburgers grilling, when suddenly he sees brains grilling.

Spinks comes in wanting his paycheck. He's been fired. He threatens Rob some more before he leaves.

DERWOOD SPINKS RESIDENCE
Rob goes to Spinks's house to find the pills, but only finds a different bottle of pills that belong to Spinks.

Spinks comes home, and senses someone is there. He picks up a bat, inscribed with his name, as he looks for Rob.

Spinks steps on the bottle of his pills, and realizes Rob is there. He shows Rob that the right pills are in his pocket.

Robert turns into the 'monster,' pulling his disguises off. Now he is bald, with no ears, and shark like teeth. He also pops his eyeballs out. Robert kills Spinks.

ACT THREE

Rob goes back to Dr. Rineheart's office. He tells her that he needs help and that all he wants to do is eat. She talks him into going to an OA meeting.

Rob enters his house to be met by Sylvia who tells him that an FBI Agent is upstairs.

SYLVIA: Hey, Rob, you didn't tell me you had a friend in the FBI.
ROB: What?
SYLVIA: He's upstairs. I, I told him all about that strange man in the maroon car, and he said he'd look into it.
ROB looks up to see MULDER
MULDER: Afternoon, Rob.
SCULLY comes up from behind him
SCULLY: Sir? May we speak with you?

As the scene changes, Mulder and Scully talk to Rob about Spinks.

*****XXXXX*****
SCULLY:
Derwood Spinks has disappeared.
MULDER: His car is gone along with some personal belongings.
SCULLY: My partner saw Spinks in your neighborhood yesterday morning. At that time you told Agent Mulder that you hadn't seen Mr. Spinks, is that correct?
ROB nods.
ROB: I don't even know him that well. If he was going to leave town, he wouldn't come tell me about it.
MULDER: Who said he left town?
ROB: I don't know…Isn't that what you think happened?
MULDER: No, no, no. Personally, I think he's dead. I can't speak for my partner, but I think that whatever it was that killed Donald Pankow, also got to Mr. Derwood Spinks.
ROB: What do you, what do you mean 'whatever it was?'
MULDER: I'll let you in on a little secret. We've been able to keep it pretty quiet up until now, but Donald Pankow's brain, was missing from his skull. My partner was able to find something that was previously undetected. It was the, the tip of what can only be described as a tiny shark's tooth, embedded deep in the bone. I think we're looking for some kind of genetic freak. A carnivorous predator as of yet unidentified, a monster if you will.
ROB: There's no such thing.
MULDER: Don't you believe it, this thing definitely qualifies. It has a biological imperative to eat. I think it even ate that ground chuck you threw away.
ROB: Yeah? Why?
MULDER: Because it can't kill with impunity and it knows it. It knows that the more it feeds on humans, the closer it gets to getting caught. But the hunger is always there. And it satisfies it any way it can.
ROB laughs
ROB: I'm, I'm sorry, but this is like, good cop…insane cop (Mulder smiles). Why are you telling me all of this?
MULDER: I think you know why.
SCULLY: Thank you, Mr. Roberts. We'll contact you if we have any further questions.
MULDER and SCULLY get up to leave. MULDER turns to ROB.
MULDER: Watch out for that monster.
MULDER and SCULLY walk out the door.
*****XXXXX*****

Robert decides to attend the OA meeting. There he sees his land lady. He stands up to introduce himself, and then talks about his problem with eating. He describes the taste of the meat (but not telling it's brains, of course), and it makes him want some, as it does to the rest of the people in the room. He sees the back of a man's head with his brain pounding.

At the apartment complex, Rob is walking up the stairs talking to his land lady. She goes into her apartment.

Rob starts to walk away and then turns back to her door and knocks, removing his fake teeth.

ACT FOUR

Rob stands looking out his window as the garbage truck picks up his can and dumps it. The land lady was in it.

*****XXXXX*****
There is a close up on a bat, as Rob picks it up off of the coffee table, along with a set of keys. Inscribed on the side of the bat is "D SPINKS." The bottom of the bat doesn't leave the table as he walks around. He walks out the door and then locks the locks. After a <beat> he kicks in the door. He screams and swings the bat around, smashing his stereo, and everything else in the room.
*****XXXXX*****

Someone in the complex yells, asking what the noises were. He yells and tells them to call the police.

In Rob's apartment, Mulder examines the bat.

Rob tells Mulder that he lied to them before, that Derwood *was* leaving his house before when Mulder saw him. He tells them that Spinks said that he would kill him if he spoke to them.

Scully asks what Spinks didn't want him to tell them. He says that last Friday night, when he stayed late, so did Spinks. He watched him and told him to go home, that he would clean up. Rob says that he realized when he got home, that he had the key to the dumpster, so he drove back. When he got there, he saw him cleaning up a lot of blood. He was so scared, but he should have told them the truth from the start.

Mulder hold up a picture and asks Rob if he has seen the man. It's a picture of Steve Kiziak on a brochure (yes that is the character's name too). Steve was a private investigator that was hired by Sylvia's ex-husband, to spy on her. Now Steve is missing. Scully tells him that Steve had been parked outside Rob's apartment. Rob says that he hadn't noticed him. Mulder says that maybe they should check with Sylvia again, and Rob says that he doesn't think she's home.

On the way out, Mulder says:

MULDER: Don't worry, Rob. It won't be long now.

Rob aggressively packs his clothes as Rineheart comes in, asking what happened. He tells her, and then tells her that he's going to a friend's house. She wants to talk about his problems. He tells her that he quit his job. He wants her to leave. She tells him that she's there as a friend, and he tells her to consider him cured. He says that maybe he has a biological imperative to eat. He asks why it's such a bad thing, and starts yelling. He says that you can't fight biology. She tells him that it sounds like he's tired of feeling guilty. He agrees.

ROB: I am sick and tired of pretending that I'm something that I'm not.

She tell him that she had figured out after his last visit, that he was the murderer. She knows that he's hurting, and she wants him to get help. She says that she won't say anything to anybody, but that he should do what he knows is right, and turn himself in.

Rob hears the police driving up outside.

He tells her that she doesn't know what she's talking about, but she insists that she does. He yells at her, and then:

ROB: You said you don't believe in monsters, right?…How about now?

Rob pulls off his wig, and continues with "How about now?" more times. He takes off his ears, and removes his eyes, looking at her.

ROB: Do you believe in monsters?
He opens his mouth and hisses at her, with his hand around her throat.
Rineheart brushes his cheek.
MINDY: You poor man. What you must go through.

Rob starts to pull away from her when Mulder and Scully break down the door.

Mulder tells him to move away and he doesn't. Scully tells Mindy to move away and she doesn't, telling them not to hurt him. Mulder tells him that they tracked Sylvia down to a landfill.

MULDER: You just can't stop yourself, can you?

Mulder tells him to get on the floor, but he doesn't.

MINDY: Rob. Be that good person I know you mean to be.

Instead he lunges at Mulder until he shoots him. He falls to the floor. Mindy screams and asks him "Why?" knowing that he didn't want to kill anyone.

ROB: I can't be something I'm not.

Rob smiles and then is still.

The scene ends showing Mulder, Scully, and Mindy through Rob's eyes, as his eyes close, and they disappear as he dies.
